Hopefully Martin Amis is a Better Writer than Speaker

Because if the quotes we hear from him are any indication, as a public figure who speaks, he’s registering between insensitive nitwit, and downright nasty idiot. My opinion, of course. However, many others have taken to task his latest bonehead statement about writers whose audience are children.

Here in the US, freedom of speech is sacred, so I’d never advocate censorship, even with someone such as Mr. Amis. But, with that freedom comes responsibility, and hopes that one doesn’t make a fool of oneself.

On the other hand, it is refreshing to hear someone speak exactly what’s on his mind, good or bad, and not parse his words for fear of offending anyone. Which, he did.
