Handy helpful criticism will be (semi-) cheerfully accepted. As most sites this is still a work in progress and I know I have a lot to do. The main thing I have to do is to list more books.

Chrislands.com is the site I used for it. Good people.

Not bad, neat logo.
Is it possible to move the weekly specials over to the left to keep the sidebars better balanced?

OK, here goes:

Your site is easy to navigate, simple, open (uncluttered). However, because of the # of items on the right side, and the expanse of white 'dead' space in the center, I didn't go clear to the bottom to see the 'weekly specials' & categories listed WAY down there.

The dead white space doesn't add anything to the page, or to my wanting to stay there. So, I missed the above mentioned part 'til AFTER I had found the categories thru 'browse categories'. (Which I ALSO didn't see right off the bat!)

I guess I would suggest making 'Browse Categories' have far more visual impact & either filling up some of that white space, or re-arranging the right hand column so that the white space in the center isn't there.

All in all, I think you're right on...I like your site and it's ease of use and uncluttered appearance. Also like the 'not slapping you in the face' colors & blinkies & all the other tripe some folks over-decorate their sites with.

I'm not sure how to list my Weekly Specials yet. It is just sort of hanging there right now. You are right about the white space.

Move the categories to the left. Good idea because that line will be growing. Weekly Specials into the middle.

Great! Now all I have to do is figure out how then get the time.

Thanks -

Smiley - Thanks for the handy helpful info. - I switched it around some and it does look better.

Plus I learned how to switch things around.

Still a bit of work to do. Like list books...

DITTO!

I really like the feel of it now... much more compact with the specials filling in the white space & the categories easy to find.
Great improvement!  Grin

I realize you posted this over a month ago, but I was just checking the boards and saw the posting.  Love the picture you have posted...it's great.  Also, the design elements look good, nice coloration. The only suggestion I have is that you work on your catalogs.  They need help.

I don't know what data base you use to list on.  I use Booktrakker.  With the data base I use, it picks up the first key work as the topic, and the topic becomes the category list.  If I upload the book info from Amazon, it will use the first Amazon key word as the catalog unless I change it when completing the listing.  What then happens is a mess of catalogs.   I check my website weekly, when I upload the pix, to  make sure the catalogs remain aligned and easy to use.  It has helped generate sales as people can easily navigate to the proper catalog.  It also helps when people are asking me questions about genre....I can direct them to the catalog page so they have a complete listing of what's available.

Thanks Marilyn - I saw how you have your catalogs set up. Pretty neat. - I'm using Homebase which allows me to put each item into several categories so if I have a humorous history book or Zen poetry book I can list it in both. - I've been meaning to use sub categories and I'll figure out a time frame to do so. I guess it should be soon before I have thousands of books to 'correct'. - Paul -
