I'm only about halfway through this book, but it is easily one of my top five favorites of the year.  The subject matter could be touchy for some readers and I definitely would reccommend it for ages 15 and up.

When Clay receives an anonymous package full of cassette tapes, he doesn't realize he's holding a former classmate's suicide note.  Clay discovers the Thirteen Reasons behind Hannah's death, each of them connected to one of his classmates, and one of the reasons involves Clay himself.  As he listens to the tapes and to Hannah's stories and reasons, he also takes a tour of the places that were important in the course of Hannah's decision to end her life.

Fans of Chris Crutcher will enjoy this book and anyone looking for a good, unique story will, too.  I'm interested to see how Asher ends his novel, especially to discover Clay's role and the final message.  I've lost two people to suicide so I'm curious to see whether or not the "blame" for Hannah's death will ultimately lie in her own hands.
