Pat:
I enjoyed reading about the recipe for Blue Plate Books. I have no doubt that it will be a success. Owning your own business is a big step. I've witnessed that my entire life! It does have its rewards. I do wish that we were there to help (and get in your way) when you set up the store. I'm sure I'll visit it frequently when I am in VA. Keep us posted regarding the Blue Plate aventuures. Tom.

Pat,
Congratulations and good luck. It is encouraging to hear about others who are entering the world of bookselling since I am a couple of months(provided Dolly doesn't rain on my parade) from the launch of Paragraphs on Padre Blvd. a general interest new and used book store. I love your store's name and theme - it is original and enticing. You have certainly done your homework and I am sure your new venture will be a success. I will look forward to reading more about your bookselling adventures. /Joni

Hi Pat. I wondered what happened to you. The last 4 books I read were books I had read before, all David Sedaris. Sometimes you just get in a mood for a little relentless sarcasm...this particular mood just happened to last 2 weeks. Before that I read a book Craig Bridges gave me (he says HI!), about Roosevelt's journey down an unmapped river in the Brazilian rainforest...heavy, amazing stuff. After reading that, I decided my next book purchase will have to be any other books written by his comrads on the same journey (although I totally needed the Sedaris to lighten up a bit after). Soooo, when will the website be up and running for your new store? Because I don't think we have any meetings coming up in Virginia for awhile... :) Miss you, thanks for reaching out to me like you did when we first met at - was it Manhattan Eye?- and best of luck with your new endeavor. You are so lucky to be 1) Doing what you want to do, and 2) being surrounded by books all day! I enjoyed your blog. Keep us all posted on how it goes...

How you are missed in the ophthalmic education arena! With your intellect, extraordinary planning skills and drive, I see only success in your future. Good luck and can't wait to get back to Virginia to check out your Blue Plate specials!

Hi Pat,

Hope it all goes well with the bookstore. As a reader myself, I've often thought it would be a great job, but I'd probably read more than sell!
If I could drop over from Down Under I would.
Cheers,
